Words from the Top:
Last week our speaker was Mary McDonough, business editor for the
Ann Arbor News. She talked about her 2002 trip to
Brazil with a Rotary Group Study Exchange.

She shared her experiences of meeting Brazilians in their homes
and Rotary meetings and seeing their places of
business. Mary was fortunate to be able to continue
working as a correspondent during her exchange and
she wrote accounts of her travels for the Eccentric
Newspapers, her employer at the time.
Mary told us that, while there is a desire amongst
many Brazilians to modernize and to provide modern
municipal and human services and participate in the
global economy, they also value their traditional
ways of enjoying life with lots of good food and
drink and doing business by building personal
relationships.
We have an opportunity to help host a GSE team from
Thailand this spring. There will be four young Thai
professionals and a Rotarian team leader visiting
our Rotary district in April. We can help by
providing housing, transportation or vocational
visits while they are in our area. More details will
be announced in the near future.
