April 16, 2007 – Rotary Notes

From the Top:

I want to thank Jim Brady for leading the meeting last week in my absence.

It looks like the weather is finally going to give us a real feeling of Spring by the end of the week.  I'd like to think it is coinciding with the end of the tax filing season on the 17th.  Make sure you have filed or extended your return by Tuesday.  As I said with my Happy Dollar a couple weeks ago; the weather couldn't be better for those of us stuck in a office.

Enough about taxes, there are many things going on in the club that are far more interesting.  The Playhouse continues towards completion and the nice weather may let us get it outside to work on.  The big event this week of course is Art, Food and Wine.  Please try to get any last minute items to John as soon as possible, this includes yours truly.  Ticket sales will be crucial this week.

I will see everyone Thursday.

Thanks,
--Fred

Near the Top:

President Elect John Hansen went to the District Assembly and Club Officer Training last Saturday. Here’s the short version of his report:

I attended the District Assembly in Troy with two non-office holding members of the Chelsea club (PP Fred Van Reesesma and Charlie Silkworth).  They went because they were good little Rotarians.  For future Dexter officers - note that no club in the world does as much to train and energize its leadership as does Rotary.  You cannot help but feel great pride in the worldwide impact of our little Rotary Club when combined with the other 32,000 clubs worldwide.  The gears on our rotary wheels were meshed in intergalactic harmony and we got out early.
