March 20, 2007 – Rotary Notes

From the Top:

The GSE team from Thailand will be in our area soon.  As Lori indicates below, there is still a need for volunteers to house and/or transport the team members.  Please give this consideration if you can help out.

I'm sure Jeff Brown will let us know of the many opportunities to work on the playhouse.  Be ready this Thursday to let Jeff know when you will be there.  This is a great way to get to know your fellow club members outside of our meetings.

As I announced last week, I have rejoined my former accounting firm Deloitte LLP.  My contact information follows should you need to reach me.

Announcements:

This Week’s Program:

Faye Wiseley will speak to us about Pride and Honor Flights. You may have read about this effort in the “Dexter Leader” recently. Their goal is to take as many World War II veterans as possible to see their new memorial in Washington, D.C. Faye will share the experiences vets have had visiting the memorial and tell us how we can help.

Invocations:

??

March Set-up: Jim Brady and Fred Rickelmann

March Take-down: Steve Gergely and Sandy Hansen

Art, Food & Wine Ticket Sales:

The Art, Food & Wine extravaganza is only one month away! We’ve sent the cards asking our friends to “save the date.” Now is the time to follow up with the folks on your list and get tickets into their hands.

Facts: The Art, Food & Wine event is on Sunday, April 22.
Tickets are $50 per person.
This is our major fundraiser for scholarships.
Everyone has fun!

Group Study Team to Visit:

Our district is hosting a Group Study Exchange team from Thailand during the month of April. They will be in our area April 25-27 and we are fortunate to be hosting one of the team members in Dexter. So far we know that she is a documentary film editor by the name of Narwarat. She will be attending our April 26 meeting.

The team’s activities in this area are being coordinated by the Ann Arbor club and they have indicated they still need some help per the following announcement:

GSE Visitors from Thailand Still Need Hosts and Drivers: Bill Dunifon and Spaulding Clark report that we still need one more host family for the GSE team from Thailand and that we also need some more drivers to occasionally chauffeur them about. Please contact Spaulding at esclark2@comcast.net or Bill at bdunifon@aol.com if you can help.

Follow the Michigan GSE Team in Thailand:

As implied by the name, Group Study Exchange, there is also a Michigan GSE team visiting Thailand. You can see photos and commentary about their trip at http://gsetothailand.blogspot.com/.
